UK Testamonials - Mark Tutton

Mark Tuton - Systems Engineer

I joined the company as an apprentice studying elections and mechanics. On completion, I joined the Mechanical Design department and at that time, we still used a mixture of CAD and drawing boards.

I initially started by supporting production changes and I learnt a lot about the design and manufacture of Megger products and the processes we used. I moved up through the Mechanical Department and eventually become a senior mechanical designer. In this role, I was responsible for the entire mechanical design of the product. Due to my electrical background, I also laid out printed circuit boards, which gave me an interesting mix of different types of work.

“The systems engineering work has been challenging as it brings together all aspects of the work that I have done throughout my career.”

The types of projects I have worked on in my time at Megger have varied from Time Domain Reflectors (TDRs), which involved dealing with high speed circuits, to oil testers that worked up to 100 kV. Both of these projects had interesting design challenges that I needed to overcome.

After this, I ended up running cross-discipline teams to get a number of projects over the line, leading to me becoming the system engineer at Megger. The systems engineering work has been challenging as it brings together all aspects of the work that I have done throughout my career.

Megger has supported my career path throughout my work life to get me where I am today.
