Dr Stan Zurek - Head of Research and Innovation 

How do you stay ahead of the competition? Through continuous innovation. Every day I am amazed by the new ideas proposed by my colleagues at all imaginable levels, from ingenious electronic circuits, mathematical algorithms and data analysis, to the way the software is created and deployed in production.  

I joined Megger UK as a Magnetics Specialist in 2008 (after my PhD at Cardiff University) and have been involved with most of Megger's products since. Academic degrees are nice, but in industry, what really matters is experience, practice, hard work with a good team, and making sure that solutions are delivered. I also continuously expand my knowledge – there always remains so much to learn! 

Getting involved with patenting our ideas was a fantastic experience for me. Since the introduction of the internal Innovation Projects program in 2014, we have managed to increase the number of our patents by an order of magnitude. As the Head of Research and Innovation, I make sure that all the involved people get credited on the patents. The work is technically challenging, but in the best possible way, as it is always fun to solve a great puzzle. Every day we have a new problem for which a solution needs to be invented, big or small.  

I always get such a kick from seeing a new product delivered to our customers. Come and help us invent the future!
